Recreating the colors of flowers

Recreating the colors of flowers.

A few words should be devoted to the reproduction of colors. On correctly exposed reversible material, almost all colors of flowers will be perfectly reproduced, even the most delicate shades will be visible, If, as we mentioned, will be displayed correctly, that is, not just for the right amount of time, but also with light of appropriate colors. In sunlight, to which the reversible materials are adapted, there is almost no problem. On cloudy days, we must use a weak yellow filter, for example Agfa or ORWO no 32 or also, if we want to get a warmer image - a pink filter. If the floral motifs are dominated by red and blue colors, and yellow is fading away, we can use a neofan filter, which significantly increases the brightness. In all cases, if we want to get the right images in difficult lighting conditions, we have to work on a material that gives color haze, we have to use the brightest filters for copying (copy filters framed in glass give out of focus) or use anti-smoke filters as photo filters, at which good results can be achieved with any lighting and with any material susceptible to color haze (insufficient blacks and color imbalances cannot be corrected with these filters).

We have no problems with filters when using color negative materials. We can get good results with them, and the shortcomings created during the copying process can only be determined by an expert with a very critical analysis. Yellow flowers usually come out a little whiter. Some colors of flowers, such as the deep blue and purple found in asters, dahlias and Japanese orchids, they create many difficulties and so far, they come out reddish, if not red. It is puzzling, that some of these flowers in vases, they also appear much redder to the eye under artificial light than in daylight. This is what this phenomenon is about, that the dyes reflect long-wave red rays in addition to blue ones (also in invisible infrared). On normal colored light-sensitive material, these rays are recorded faithfully, while the sensitivity of the eye is much lower in this range.

We have covered the subject of flower photography quite extensively, as this cheerful colorful world deserves. We did it for a reason, because it is quite difficult to implement.
